Most gothic alto?

Yes, it's another 'recommend me a Sax' thread. But hopefully with a difference, as I know what I want sound wise.

I am wanting a dark and gothic Sax. Think Adams family, vampiric in both looks and sound.
So I am looking for the right combination of Sax and mouthpeice that can help me achieve that.
Preferably something you can get without too much hassle - so not some hard to find obscure vintage make (or uber expensive custom made - I have some dosh, but not that much...).
And something that looks the part if possible. By that I mean that nothing too overly bright and shiny as It just wouldn't feel right for a dark sound.

I am more a newb than a pro, but have the chance to get a decent horn now so am going for it.
I already have a Tenor that will last me for a few more years sound wise (yes, I know for real dark go Tenor), so I'ts the Alto I'm concentrating on for now.

My current short list for checking out is :

Yanagisawa A991B
Yamaha YAS82ZB
Cannonball Raven (if I can find one to check out 'up north' in West Yorkshie, The UK').

All safe bets quality wise, and for general sound, but look to be on the dark side of the sound spectrum according to reviews.
Are there any others I should consider as well?
Any that are renown for their dark sound?

As for mouthpieces I'm completey open to suggestion - just too many options for me to even know what to look at.
And most players look for bright and jazzy sounds so not much I can find for the darker side of Alto.

This is a great post! A Gothic Sax..most of it soundwise is going to come from you but for the dark mojo I would if I were you definitely go vintage. You're in West Yorkshire so you could go to Bradford Woodwind..see if Stewart has got any old Bueschers in or older Buffets something pre 1960.
My 1920's King Saxello ( soprano) has a very idiosyncratic sound when I want it to have...so maybe an old King , Martin or Conn.
As I said most of it has to come out of your concept but I would be looking at a straightahead round chambered rubber mouthpiece and there are a lot of options. A good old Selmer with the right reed and sound concept.

Vintage one -- with an original mouthpiece.

Alto is too puny to be a true goth instrument:). Mars Williams, whose playing has graced industrial metal groups like Ministry (Cannibal Song), plays a garden variety mkVI tenor. Use effects to make your sax sound the way you want to. That's what the guitar players do.

Tarnished old silver C sax with new pads and red stone touches. Black would be too conformist. Crystal or transparent mouthpiece, with a cord/rope lig with a dangling noose.

or check out Arta Guban Luxor.

Dolnets are not always the best built, but they can play very nicely. I understand that they tend to be inconsistent, so it is good to play whatever you are buying. My Dolnet tenor has a lovely dark tone, and nice light, quick keywork (and those cool deco guards). You should check one out when you get the chance. The Yani is definitely a safer choice (especially if you like it).

Buffet Super Action I, with much lacquer loss. Or you could spray paint it black-cherry red and black.

Went for the Yanagisawa A991B in the end.
Looks gorgeous in elegant black and gold. Lovely sound and great build quality. Matches with my black and gold tenor too.

Some nice suggestions in the thread but the Yanagisawa won out.
Was tempted by the cannonball but just couldn't risk buying sight unseen, or rather sound unheard. And actually finding one up north in the UK is impossible - they definately need to work on upping their sales presence.
